Bankole Exonerated Of Corruption By PDP's Secretary
The National Publicity Secretary of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Olisa Metuh over the weekend Exonerated the former speaker of the House of Representative, Mr. Dimeji Bankole of corruption. Speaking to SaharaTV’s Omoyele Sowore, Chief Metuh argued that the former speaker’s father was a "billionaire" and as such the speaker had no reason to steal money.
It would be recalled that Mr. Bankole is facing several charges in an Abuja court of embezzling over N40 billion naira.
Chief Metuh also defended the way the former speaker obtained his official residence of Speaker of the House of Representatives at a give away price by claiming that the former speaker paid over N400 million for the property. He rebuffed a request by SaharaTV to provide the evidence that such payment was made.
Chief Metuh was on SaharaTV to discuss the recent statement by the presidential candidate of the CPC, Gen. Muhamadu Buhari that any attempt to rig the 2015 elections would lead to "bloodshed."
“The elections we had in 2011 were the best elections we’ve ever had in the history of this country… the election of 2011 was the most acceptable election,” Chief Metuh said. “There is no instance where you can say PDP rigged, rigged, rigged. Where did PDP rig?
When challenged that several of the 2011 election results have been reversed by the court, Metuh complained. “We are unduly being harassed… there are a lot of lies spread about the PDP.”
As a direct reference to Sahara Reporters, Metuh told Sowore, “Any wrong thing that you say will mislead a lot of people and at the same time will go a long way to affect your credibility.”
