Corps members’ April allowances finally payed
After several weeks of anticipation, the Federal Gov-ernment yesterday said youth Corps members’ allowances for April had been paid. A statement issued by the National Youth Ser-vice Corps, NYSC, man-agement and signed by the Head of Press and Public Relations Unit, Mrs. Abosede Aderibig-be, confirmed that Corps members could now go to their banks for their al-lowances for the month. The statement reads: “Further to the Honour-able Minister of Youth Development’s release on the above mentioned sub-ject matter stating rea-sons for the late payment of the April, 2012 personal allowances of Corps mem-bers, this is to inform all Corps members and other stakeholders of the NYSC that the payment of the said allowances had been made through e-payment, on receipt of necessary funds from the office of the Accountant General of the Federation on 17th May 2012.“
All Corps members are thereby requested to check with their banks and lodge complaints with their NYSC State Secretariats where such payments have not been cleared.”
According to the man-agement, efforts are being made to ensure prompt payment of May 2012 al-lowances, even as it com-mended the Corps mem-bers for their high sense of maturity and patience in the face of the delay.
The management also reaffirmed its commit-ment to the welfare and security of Corps mem-bers wherever they may be in line with the stance of the Federal Govern-ment.
