Khama Rhinos population in Serowe area. Central Kalahari Game Reserve Central Kalahari Game Reserve is an extensive national park in the Kalahari Desert of Botswana. Established in 1961 it covers an area of 52800 sq km. The reserve is characterised by vast open plains, saltpans and ancient riverbeds. Available wildlife includes gemsbok, giraffe, brown hyena, blue wildebeest, eland, cheetah, leopard, red hartebeest, lion, warthog, wild dog, kudu and springbok. Botswana safaris in the reserve are best between December and April when the animals congregate in the pans and valleys to quench.
