Asked NDDC To Complete Ongoing Projects
Governors of states covered by the Niger Delta De-velopment Commission (NDDC) have mandated the new management of the commission to ensure that all on-going Projects initiated by the body are completed, and in due course, too. The governors, who met in Port Harcourt, the Rivers state capital, yesterday, also urged the commission to focus on Projects that would pro-mote regional integra-tion and commerce. Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, who spoke with journal-ists after emerging with his colleagues from the Executive Chambers of Government House, in Port Harcourt, said it is imperative to turn at-tention to completion of already awarded con-tracts and Projects that would promote interac-tion among states of the region.
His words, “We are using this medium to challenge the new man-agement of the NDDC to give more attention to re-gional Projects covering power, rails among others so that we can have com-munication and business integration among our-selves”, he said.
Recently, Dr. Christian Oboh, the Managing Di-rector of the commission had said the NDDC has over 5000 Ongoing Projects dotted around the region.
The Port Harcourt meet-ing also threw up Gover-nor Emmanuel Uduaghan of Delta State as the new chairman of the forum of NDDC State Governors.
He took over from the Riv-ers governor.
Speaking to journal-ists on the direction of his leadership, Uduaghan reiterated that his tenure would focus on ensuring that all Projects that have been embarked upon by the commission are com-pleted, especially those with regional flavour.
