Kagawa concern for Ferguson
Ferguson will be sweating on the fitness of Shinji Kagawa after the midfielder twisted his knee during the first half of last night's thrilling 3-2 comeback win over Braga.
Kagawa, 23, has been most impressive in recent weeks following a slow start in the Premier League since moving from Borussia Dortmund. However Kagawa has begun to show signs of his unique talents, with the young Japanese star putting in a solid display in Tuesday's Champions League game, in which he set up the opening goal for two goal hero, Javier Hernandez.
The win may come at a price however with Kagawa due to undergo tests today to discover the extend of the injury, and with United to meet Chelsea, twice, and Arsenal in coming weeks, the injury has come at the worst possible time. "Kagawa twisted his knee,'' Ferguson said. "He struggled on for 20 minutes but we will assess in in the morning because we don't know the extent of it at the moment.''
United are already facing injury concerns with goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard already ruled out for a week after suffering a thumb injury in training, which means Ferguson is down on troops ahead of Sunday's big clash against Chelsea.
Injury is not the only worry currently facing Ferguson however, with the manager stating that he is struggling to identify the cause of the sides defensive issues which has seen them concede first in eight of their last twleve games.
"I can't get to the bottom of it, I am afraid,'' he said. "If you analyse the goals we are losing, they have come from throw-ins, crosses, cut-backs - all sorts. And they are finding players free in the box. It is difficult to put your finger on it, and it is a concern because it is making it difficult for us.''
