iPad Mini Invitation, Release Date, Features, Pictures And Price Rumours
Apple fans will have to wait a little longer to find out whether an iPad Mini really is on the way.
It had been suggested invitations would be sent out on October 10 ahead of an announcement on October 17 or 18. But so far nobody seems to have received an invitation. And since they generally arrive via email, we can't blame the mail.
The iPad Mini - also dubbed the iPad Air And iPad Nano - has been predicted to go on sale on November 2, or possibly even a week earlier, on October 26, but expect a Friday Release as with other Apple products.
If the hype does lead to an autumn release, it will be perfectly timed for the Christmas market, And will continue the wave of Apple hype from the successful iPhone 5 release.
Apple have not admitted the smaller version of the market-leading tablet is even coming. A leak on the day Apple won substantial damages against major rival Samsung in August is the closest to an official promise there has been (ie not all that close).
But that has not stopped tech experts And Apple fans getting excited And second-guessing what a new Mini iPad might be like.
Taking inspiration from the iPhone 5, launched last month, some inferences are being drawn.
It is assumed the iPad Mini will have the smaller Lightning dock connector, like the iPhone 5, which is incompatible with previous docking devices without an adapter. Another aspect the iPad Mini will share with the iPhone 5 is the iOS6 operating system (and the dreaded Apple maps).
A main point of discussion has become the connectivity of the smaller device.
The iPhone 5 was launched with 4G capability last month, but it is being suggested the iPad Mini will be Wi-fi only.
Industry sources have apparently told the Guardian the iPad mini, also dubbed the iPad nano And the iPad Air, will not have 3G or the new faster 4G network.
An updated full-size iPad could also be announced, though, with 4G connectivity - provided in the UK initially by Everything Everywhere, now known as EE - And the lightning dock Apple are moving to.
Giving the Mini limited connectivity would help keep the cost down And ensure the premium status of the full size iPad range.
A leak on the day Apple won substantial damages against major rival Samsung in August is the closest to an official promise of an iPad Mini there has been (ie not all that close).
But there is a steady build-up of leaked pictures, with 9to5Mac researcher Sonny Dickson sharing a series on Twitter And Instagram.
