Refineries TAM To Cost $1.6bn – Diezani
Diezani Alison Madueke, yesterday, disclosed that the Turn Around Maitenance of the Warri, Portharcourt and Kaduna Refineries would Cost about .6bn an equivalent of N251.2bn.
This comes as the senate committee on Petroleum (upstream) lambasted the Petroleum Product Marketing Company for ceding its powers on the distribution of petroleum products to unions in the industry. They also fingered security operatives for being responsible for the price variance of fuel across the nation.
The committee, led by Sen. Magnus Abe, also said they were not satisfied with Department for Petroleum Resources, DPR, which he said have slammed 75 stations for selling petroleum products above the stipulated price.
However, Diezani, while speaking at an interactive session with the Senate Committee members during an interactive session on ways to unravel the hiccups in the petroleum sector also said that while the Warri refinery received maintenance in 2004, the Portharcourt Refinery has since year 2000 not undergone the TAM procedure.
While she said the TAM for Portharcourt would commence in 2013 she, however, blamed a lapse in a timeline procedures for the delay in starting off the TAM particularly in the portharcourt refinery.
The committee nonetheless complained of the disorderliness experienced at the depots by dealers accusing her of preferential treatment in allocation of products to oil marketers.
