AU condemns attack on Nigerian peacekeepers in Darfur
attack on a patrol of team of Nigerian peacekeepers of the AU-UN Hybrid Operation in Darfur (UNAMID).
A statement issued in Addis Ababa by the Commission's Peace and Security Department said the attack took place on Oct.2, 2012, at in El-Geneina, West Darfur.
It stated that the ambush by unidentified armed men led to the death of four Nigerian peacekeepers, while eight others sustained injuries.
Ping in the statement expressed the Commission's heartfelt condolences to the Government and the people of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, families of the deceased peacekeepers and the UNAMID.
He urged the Government of Sudan to spare no efforts in identifying the perpetrators of the cowardly attack and bring them to justice.
